New Delhi: A major fire broke out at Archies card factory in Naraina. As per the initial reports, 30 fire tenders are present at the spot and efforts are on to douse it. A medium category fire was reported in Naraina Industrial Area, Phase I, early morning today. No casualties reported have been reported so far.
According to media reports, the telephone switchboard caught fire after which flames spread to other parts of the multi-storey building and properties worth lakhs has been gutted.
Two major fires have been reported in Delhi in the past two days. Yesterday, around 250 huts were gutted after a massive broke out in a slum in Paschim Puri area. After an investigation, it was found that short-circuit was the reason behind the blaze.
This Tuesday, 17 people died after a massive fire broke out at Arpit Palace Hotel in Karol Bagh area. After an initial investigation, it was revealed that the air-conditioner unit in room number 109 caught fire after which the fire spread to the other parts of the building. Most of the people died due to suffocation.
Delhi Fire Service has ordered fire-audit at about 380 hotels across the central Delhi area and the Delhi Government has directed the fire department to inspect buildings which are five floors or more and submit a report on their safety compliance within a week, reported news agency PTI.
